Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival

 

"FOR HERE OR TO GO?" screened in Philly on Nov. 14, followed by a great Q&A. An audience member was even moved to tears!

This emotional response is very validating to filmmakers with stories about real issues faced by real people.

Award for short film script "MOCCASINS"

 

The 3-page short film script placed 3rd in the Distinguished Filmmakers Network writing challenge in May 2015. The judges describing the writing as "very vivid and compelling." LOGLINE: In 1911, a mixed-race girl discovers the key to acceptance at the neighborhood boys' treehouse can be found in her Native American heritage.

 
Full House at "FOR HERE OR TO GO?" Canada Premiere at IFFSA Toronto

 

The largest South Asian film festival in North America, IFFSA Toronto audiences packed the theatre for the comedy drama, followed by a Q&A with actor Samrat Chakrabarti.

 
"FOR HERE OR TO GO?" Kicks Off Festival Tour with SOLD-OUT screenings! World Premiere at CINEQUEST followed by Opening Night Film at Indian Film Festival Houston

 

The film was a hit with audiences, filling the beautiful 1,122-seat California Theatre in San Jose to capacity on Sat. February 28 for the World Premiere at CINEQUEST. After the following two CINEQUEST screenings the next weekend also sold out, the festival added a prime encore screening slot for Closing Day back at the majestic California Theatre. In between these screenings, director Rucha Humnabadkar flew to Houston for their sold-out Opening Night Gala screening of FOR HERE OR TO GO?

2015 Palm Springs International Film Festival

 

I served as the Unit Production Manager on this period adventure starring Carmen Argenziano and Horatio Sanz, produced by Rabbit Bandini in cooperation with USC School of Cinematic Arts, and directed by the students of James Franco's master class.

 

 

"AWAKE: The Life of Yogananda" a Box Office Success

 

Update: Now ranked as the #107 Top Grossing Documentary of All Time by BoxOfficeMojo, the film followed a hybrid self-distribution model. As Coordinator of Production & Distribution, I spend 4 years dedicated to this film and was an instrumental member of the team leading the grassroots efforts which resulted in packed theatres, outgrossing "Interstellar" during its opening weekend at some venues and holding over in some cities for months.

"Cilantro" Screenplay in 2nd Round Consideration for Sundance Sloan Commissioning Grant

 

The grant is sponsored by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The Sloan Foundation supports realistic depictions of science in film and projects featuring non-stereotypical depictions of scientists in lead roles.

Doritos, Simply Bridal, and more

 

One of our Stage5 Productions Doritos commercials was in the top 50 most viewed for the Super Bowl contest! While we didn't make finalist, we did have a blast making 4 hilarious videos for the competition. I served as producer on "Laundry Day." Since then I've had the opportunity to create content for custom-made wedding dress vendor Simply Bridal (also through Stage5) and am currently in post-production for a top-secret web project for a brand many girls will know well :) Stay tuned.

 

 

SLOAN FILM SUMMIT - Oct. 27-29th, 2011

 

I am off to New York on October 22 to attend the Sloan Film Summit taking place Oct. 27-29th, hosted by the Tribeca Film Institute. Theyre flying me out there to attend as a grant awardee for my first feature screenplay, Lawrence and Brie, which won a $15,000 Sloan Screenwriting Award in 2009 at USC. The Summit will be attend by grantees from the past 3 years and will be a celebration of emerging filmmakers telling stories that engage science in film.

The series stars Pete Karinen and Brian Sacca. I served as Production Manager on Season 2 - the first 4 episodes of Season 2 are currently released as of Jan. 4, 2011.

 

 

“Across the Pond" wins BEST DRAMA at USC Campus MovieFest!

 

The film, which was filmed in London and Los Angeles and was shot and edited in less than a week, found great success at the school level and will be screening again for further competition at the Campus MovieFest International Grand Finale in Hollywood, June 23-26th, 2011. Additionally, the film was nominated for the AT&T ReThink Possible competition, which will enable us to compete for a $5,000 prize with which to start a feature film.

"Ellen" at the Rhode Island International Film Festival

 

"Ellen" is a USC undergraduate CTPR-480 thesis film starring Jessica Jade Andres and directed by Kyle Hausmann-Stokes. I produced alongside Brittney Segal.

 

"Ellen" has been selected to screen at one of the few Academy Award-qualifying festivals! We are screening at 4 PM on Thursday, Aug. 12th at the Veteran's Memorial Auditorium Cinematheque and at 8:45 PM on Saturday, Aug. 14th at the brand new VMA Main Stage cinema venue. "The Route" at Campus Movie Fest International Grand Finale, Las Vegas

 

"The Route" was awarded Best Picture at USC 2009, is available for viewing on AT&T phones and through AT&T U-Verse, and placed in the Top 16 at the Western Regional Grand Finale in San Francisco this November. The International Grand Finale will be taking place at the Wynn Las Vegas.

"Beachcomber" Screening at the Southern California Business Film Festival

 

16mm short film written and directed by CC Chainey shows that even fighting over a treasure chest is a type of a business negotiation.

 

 

"Lawrence and Brie" Awarded $15,000 Writing Grant by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation

 

CC Chainey's debut feature screenplay, "Lawrence and Brie," has been honored by the foundation as a scientifically accurate, sympathetic portrayal of the AIDS crisis of the 1980s. The story is based on fictional characters but follows the actual chronology and terminology of the  HIV/AIDS research of the period.
